On 3 august 2011 I took some pictures of Centaurus A and omega Centauri. Omega Centauri (left on the image) is a globular cluster with a total mass of 5 million suns! It is the largest globular cluster in the halo of our solar system. Dutch research done in the years 30 and 70 led to the conclusion that omega Centauri is possibly not a normal globular cluster, but that it was formed from a dwarf galaxy. The mass of an average globular cluster is in fact 100,000 suns.
Centaurus A (right on the image) is a large galaxy at a distance of 10-16 is one million kilometers of our galaxy. Both Cenaturus A and omega Centauri can be simultaneously recorded with a 200 mm telephoto lens.
